Altar Servers

The ministry of altar servers is a ministry of service to the Lord and the Church.  It is a call to serve the Lord at liturgical services, celebrations, and devotions.  It requires responsibility, ongoing education, and practice.  The children who serve in the ministry could not do this without the support of their parents/guardians.

Recruitment: Children are eligible to serve once they have received First Holy Communion.  They must show ongoing faith education until receiving Confirmation.  Adults are welcome to help serve at Daily Mass as well as at funerals.

Scheduling: Schedules are mailed monthly for Sunday services.  Children are rotated through Mass times unless they are unavailable for certain Masses.  Servers are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of services to set up the altar.  Special services are scheduled separately (ie: funerals, weddings, holy days of obligations, and devotions).

Dress Code: A cassock and surplice is worn and provided by the parish.  Appropriate attire is expected to be worn (ie: dress pants, slacks, skirt, or a dress) as well as dress shoes.  Jeans and sneakers are not acceptable attire.
